Seniors Section
The seniors section is the largest group of members at Gorleston Golf Club.
We have great camaraderie and it couldn’t be better evidenced that at our “Christmas Bash” where this year 98 members enjoyed a festive meal (including 4 ladies who ran the half way hut and plied us with hot chocolate with brandy, sausage rolls & mince pies).
The “Christmas Bash” is the culmination of our senior events each year.
During the Spring to autumn period we have a full schedule of 32 reciprocal friendly matches against local clubs such as Cromer and Sheringham in the north, Thorpeness and Southwold to the south and Royal Norwich in the west to name a few.
Apart from these friendly home & away games, we also enjoy taking on our Ladies section in the Spring & Autumn in a long running competition called the “One Eyed Birdie”.
We have a few “seniors only” competitions, including competing in our own division at GGC’s championship weekend, where scores on the Saturday rank where you play on the Sunday, to produce the overall top senior.
New players are always welcome to join us (55 & over) and it’s a fantastic way for seniors joining Gorleston, to quickly integrate and make new friends.
